What Makes Cold Brew So Special?
Cold brew coffee is a masterpiece of patience and precision, a slow and meticulous process that results in a velvety brew with low acidity and a subtle sweetness. Unlike traditional hot brewing methods, cold brew is crafted with time and care, allowing the coffee grounds to steep in cold water for an extended period, extracting the full essence of the beans without any harsh bitterness.
Creating Your Own Cold Brew Masterpiece
Ingredients:
- coarsely ground coffee beans (we use these beans for in house cold brew)
- a mason jar, pitcher, or similar large container
- fine mesh strainer
- coffee filter
- OR a cold brew system like this Toddy Artisan
Instructions (1:4 brew by volume):
- add one cup of coarsely ground coffee to container
- gently stir in four cups of cold water
- repeat with that ratio until desired volume is in pitcher (ex. 3 cups coffee to 12 cups water)
- cover the container, place in fridge and let it rest for about 18 hours
- strain the mixture through the mesh strainer lined with a coffee filter, capturing the resulting brew in another vessel.
- store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and enjoy!
